8-week program on mindfulness, stress-management and productivity

The program is meant to give you tools to stand in a modern context where you have to process large amounts of information daily without being caught up in stress, worry, pondering, cognitive multitasking and all the other things many struggle with today.

It has a practical focus; there will be voluntary reflection exercises from week to week and it is recommended that you do 10 minutes of mindfulness on the breath daily during the 8-week program.

Sign up:  https://nettskjema.no/a/148191  (deadline May 4th).

 Time: Wednesdays from 09:30-11:30 – May 6th– June 24th (2h/week)

Place: Zoom

Course description:

This program is based on 3 elements:

• Mindfulness training, which consists of specific exercises to develop the capacity for both sustained attention (concentration) and meta-cognitive awareness (the ability to “see” the totality of a situation, as well as to bind all the information in a moment together).

• Brain Research

.• Cognitive psychology, with special emphasis on metacognitive discipline. The main emphasis here is on being able to intelligently relate thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations.

Each 2-hours session will consist of practical exercises (beginning and end), lectures and questions. The sessions will include, among other themes:

• Introduction to mindfulness training

• Focus, concentration and presence

• Attention to, and change in, destructive thought patterns

• How to handle modern technology

• Your brain at work

• Presence in and through everyday life

• More efficient with less wear

• Freedom from stress and time cramps

• Joy of life and resilience

• Psychological flexibility in a constantly changing world

The 8-week program is based on and draws experience from a research collaboration with BI at Telenor Global Services (2012). The article “The Effect of Mindfulness Training on Employees in a Dynamic Organizational Setting” by Professor Ingunn Myrtveit (BI) has been published on the project.
