Time and place: November 14-15. Scandic Lerkendal, Trondheim.

Course description: The course is intended for PhD-students and post-docs working in the fields of immunology and/or microbiology, including host-pathogen interactions. The course will provide a general overview of the various strategies pathogens use to evade the host’s immune response, including their use of virulence factors. It will also give focused lectures on the evasion strategies of specific pathogenic species, covering bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi.

Organisation: The course will be a combination of lectures and student discussions. All lectures will be given at Scandic Lerkendal, Trondheim. Physical presence is mandatory during the whole course. Food will be provided, and travel costs and accommodation for participants arriving from outside Trondheim will be covered.

ECTS: You will receive a certificate stating recommended ECTS for this course, which is 1 ECTS. The recommendation is based on attending lectures, reading recommended literature, and fulfilling a short assignment (the latter is optional, i.e. for students that wants to receive ECTS). You can apply to your home institution for getting the course accepted as ECTS in your degree. Your home institution decides if and how many credits you will get.

Recommended literature: Before the course starts the organizers will provide you with a list of scientific review and research papers that are relevant for the topics covered in the course.
