IBA is planning a course on Zoonotic Infectious Diseases!
Time and place: Week 35 (30th of August – 3rd of September). In Ås, or hybrid with some lectures online and practical sessions physical (to be updated later according to the corona situation).
Registration: Registration is not yet open.
Who is it for: The course is primarily intended for PhD students in the field of biology, but postdoctoral fellows are welcome as well.
Course description: This course will review the microbiology, epidemiology and pathogenicity of some of the most common bacterial zoonotic pathogens in Norway. In addition, the course will introduce the use of modern genetic methods in surveillance, outbreak investigations and research relevant to public health, food safety and veterinary medicine.
During this one week course, there will be hands-on sessions where the students will get a practical approach on the microbial genomics and metagenomics data analysis. No bioinformatical skills are required.
Organization: The course will consist of lectures and practical sessions. The students will present a poster describing their current research project and its relevance to the course.
