About the course
Activities include:
- Lectures on basic writing skills and how to give constructive feedback
- Morning warm-up sessions with online discussion groups
- “Shut up and write” sessions
- Group work with discussion and feedback
We all need to write in science! We therefore have something very important in common no matter what we research. With this in mind, this course is founded upon ideas of collaborative learning. If we have a common basis of knowledge, then we can work together to improve all our writing and communication skills.
We will begin the retreat with some lectures on basic writing skills that are very important to our academic writing. We will continue with daily warm-up sessions including smaller online discussion groups. “Shut-up-and-write” sessions will take place for 2 hours twice during the week. Each session will be followed by a group discussion on what we achieved and what we found challenging.
The course is perfect if you are working on your thesis introduction (“kappe”), an article, a poster, a proposal or a scientific blogpost. However, you are welcome to join even if you are not actively writing at the moment.
All activities will take place on Zoom so please make sure you’ve signed up to the free version (at least). Many of you will have access to Zoom through your University.
