IBA annuaI Meeting – online – 2020

It is a great pleasure to invite all IBA-members to the annual IBA meeting  from 26-27th October!

After careful consideration we have decided to convert this year´s annual meeting to a virtual event due to the coronavirus pandemi

All IBA phd-, postdocs and research medical students attending the annual IBA meeting are expected to present their research project. Submit your abstract here (closed) There will be prizes for the best poster and best oral presentation!

On the evening on Monday 26th all participants are invited to a dinner (will be arranged locally in Oslo, Trondheim, Tromsø and Bergen).

The meeting and dinner is free for all members.

The meeting will start October 26th with registration at 1 pm and will finish at 1 pm 27th October.

Programme:

Plenary Speakers:

Animal models in infection biology research. Confirmed Keynote speaker Marc Dionne, Imperial College London. He has extensive experience in the use of the fruit-fly Drosophila melanogasteras a model organism studying how host genotype affects the biology of bacterial infection. In this session we will also have presentations on other animal models, including Zebrafish and mouse, and a panel discussion about animal models.

Confirmed Keynote speaker Dr Fatima AlZaharaa Alatraktchi. She was awarded the PhD thesis of the year award at Denmark Technical University in 2018 for her thesis ‘Micro- and nano-sensors for early diagnosis of bacterial infections’. Forbes business magazine has listed her as one of the 30 most influential people under 30 in Europe within science and health 2019.

Mona Johannessen is professor at Department of medical biology at the UIT Arctic University of Norway. Her research interests are on the interaction between host and microbe, and how microorganisms manage to escape human immune defenses. She has also an interest in extracellular vesicles. She will give a talk on host-pathogen interactions.

We also plan sessions on host pathogen interaction, antimicrobial resistance and bioprospecting. The full programme will be announced on the current page when it is ready.

Looking forward to seeing you online!
