PhD-day in Tromsø 02.05.22 – 03.05.22

We arranged a day for all IBA PhD members with lectures and some team-building activities. This was a physical meeting in Tromsø. We had multiple different lectures on how to lead in academia, combining academia and industry, and different paths through academia. We also had some team-building activities on communication and working in a multicultural environment. We had 24 participants from UiB, UiT, NMBU, UiO, OsloMet and NTNU.

Pitch your research workshop and dinner 31.10.21

In combination with the IBA annual meeting (arranged by NMBU in Oslo), we arranged a workshop with Matthew Davidson on “how to pitch your research”. We learned a lot from Matthew and we had 24 participants who put in great effort at pitching their project. We finished the evening with a dinner at “Der peppern gror” to get to know each other even more before the IBA annual meeting the next day!

Lecture: The art of communicating the complicated 01.11.21

In combination with the IBA annual meeting (arranged by NMBU in Oslo), we invited Jo Røislien to give a talk on “The art of communicating the complicated”. This was open to all participants of the IBA annual meeting

Paint n’ sip 03.06.21

In June 2021 we arranged a digital Paint’n Sip for IBA PhD students, which was arranged during the “Principles of Infection Biology” course. We wanted to do something social for our members during times of lockdown and little interaction.

We had 21 participants who all got paint-equipment and a canvas sent to their homes. A fun and engaging online paint-instructor guided us through the painting.  This was a lot of fun!
